Avanade's AI Engineer role is responsible for developing scalable AI solutions aligned to a business strategy and benefits case. The role will be to work as part of a team to impact real world problems by delivering technical AI work. To be successful in this role you will need to be passionate about Data & AI, a continuous learner, and a strong team player.
As an AI Engineer, you will be based on-site in Milwaukee and will help clients understand and extract insight and value from their data using Microsoft AI technologies. Working as part of a team, you will be involved in all phases of AI projects including question/use case formulation, design, research, build, and testing. This role will explore and understand data to build advanced AI solutions.
Skills/ Experience:
Demonstrable professional experience with build AI solutions over complex data sets (including data prep and ingestion) in industry scenarios
Proficiency in building RAG/GraphRAG solutions powered by LLMs
Highly proficient with two or more languages, such as Python, PySpark, R, SQL, etc. Azure AI services (including Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Azure Cognitive Services, and Azure ML to support building out capabilities listed above)
Software engineering experience using DevOps principals (Knowledge of DevOps workflows, Git, containers, CI/CD, etc.)
Good communication and presentation skills. Able to explain complex analytical methodologies and concepts in non-technical language to audiences at multiple skill levels.
Bonus Skills: Preference for prior experience working and developing in Azure
About You:
You likely possess a degree in Computer Science or Engineering or have experience in a relevant field in the industry. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also suffice.
You likely have about 1-2 years+ of demonstrable experience building AI solutions, preferably in a consulting environment working directly with clients

You will be onsite 5 days per week University of Madison Wisconsin, Milwaukee Campus. Compensation for roles at Avanade varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set and level of experience. As required by local law, Avanade provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in California, Colorado, Arizona, and Washington as set forth below. Range of Starting Pay for role: Wisconsin $76,000 to $111,000
What you'll do:
Customer readiness and onboarding, nominations review, and use case vetting processes
Proof of Concept solution design and prototyping with AI technology, with a primary focus on AI capabilities like OCR, NLP, reasoning with LLMs, AI agents, and AI Search with traditional and vector DBs and a secondary focus on machine learning
Produce solutions for clients working with both structured and unstructured data applying these AI capabilities
Conduct customer satisfaction surveys and share key learnings, run customer engagement reports and project retrospective reports as well as provide summary for customer & logging product bugs with engineering team
Provide facility tours, manage demo showcase, and process improvements
Communicate insights to help steer business strategy and decision-making
