Staff AI Engineer - Graphing

Overview

We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer with deep experience in AI/ML to join Datadog’s Graphing organization. The Graphing organization develops core tools including Dashboards, Notebooks, Sheets, search capabilities, and data-visualization toolkits used across Datadog. This role focuses on shaping AI-driven workflows for natural-language queries, graph generation, automated investigations, and related areas. You’ll lead efforts to design, train, evaluate, and deploy GenAI/ML models at scale and collaborate with leaders to identify opportunities to apply GenAI models in graphing workflows. This is a product-minded ML engineering role with strong technical and leadership capabilities. What You’ll Do

Act as a technical leader driving GenAI/ML projects from concept to production. Build and benchmark GenAI/ML models using state-of-the-art techniques. Establish a high standard of technical excellence for ML development in Graphing. Mentor engineers and influence engineering culture through design reviews, technical talks, and working groups. Influence product direction by applying a strong product mindset and advocating for the end user. Guide teams through ambiguity, scaling challenges, and evolving requirements with clear technical direction.

Who You Are

You have a BS/MS/PhD in a scientific field or equivalent experience. 10+ years of relevant engineering experience, including experience as a technical lead. Proven track record of leading large-scale GenAI/ML initiatives in a product-driven environment. Significant experience in model deployment, development, training, fine-tuning, and evaluation. Ability to drive initiatives across cross-functional teams and solve ambiguous challenges.
