We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer with deep experience in AI/ML to join Datadog’s Graphing organization. The Graphing organization develops core tools including Dashboards for live, real-time insights; Notebooks for collaborative investigations and documentation; Sheets for manual tabular data curation; search capabilities; and data-visualization toolkits used across Datadog. These product lines enable a majority of Datadog users’ daily workflows. This role focuses on building AI-driven workflows for natural-language queries, graph generation, automated investigations, and related capabilities.
This role requires a technical leader with deep AI/ML expertise to help power these workflows. You’ll design, train, evaluate, and deploy GenAI/ML models at scale, identify and prioritize opportunities to apply GenAI models in graphing workflows, and contribute as a product-minded ML engineer with strong technical skills, clear communication, and a leadership track record.

What You’ll Do
Act as a technical leader driving GenAI/ML projects from concept to production.
Build and benchmark GenAI/ML models using state-of-the-art techniques.
Establish a high standard of technical excellence for ML development in Graphing.
Mentor engineers and influence engineering culture through design reviews, technical talks, and cross-functional working groups.
Influence product direction by applying a strong product mindset and always advocating for the end user.
Guide teams through ambiguity, scaling challenges, and evolving requirements with clear technical direction.
Who You Are
BS/MS/PhD in a scientific field or equivalent experience.
10+ years of relevant engineering experience, including experience as a technical lead.
Proven track record of leading large-scale GenAI/ML initiatives in a product-driven environment.
Significant experience in model deployment, development, training, fine-tuning, and evaluation.
Ability to drive initiatives across cross-functional teams and solve ambiguous challenges.

Salary range:
$234,000—$300,000 USD per year.
