Senior Staff AI Engineer

As a Senior Staff AI Engineer at Hippocratic AI, you'll define the multi-year technical strategy for voice-based generative AI in healthcare. You'll architect the foundational platforms that power our clinically safe healthcare agents across every partner and product line, operating at the intersection of large language models, real-time voice, and human-centered product design. This is one of the most senior individual contributor roles at the company. You'll set direction across multiple AI domains RAG, agent orchestration, evaluation, real-time voice, and safety partnering directly with the executive team, AI researchers, product leaders, and clinical experts, and mentoring Staff and Senior engineers across the org. From defining the architectural bets that shape the next generation of our platform to representing Hippocratic AI externally in the research and healthcare communities, your work will determine how patients and providers safely interact with generative AI at scale for years to come. We're looking for principal-level technical leaders who have already built and scaled foundational AI systems people who identify the problems others haven't seen yet, rally teams around ambitious bets, and set the technical bar for an entire organization. Location Requirement We believe the best ideas happen together. To support fast collaboration and a strong team culture, this role is expected to be in our Palo Alto office five days a week, unless otherwise specified. What You'll Do:

Define the multi-year technical strategy and architectural roadmap for our AI platform RAG, multi-agent systems, real-time voice, evaluation, and safety β€” and align leadership, engineering, and research around it.

Architect foundational platforms and systems used across multiple products, teams, and partners. Make the load-bearing technical decisions that the company will build on for years.

Partner directly with the executive team, product leadership, and clinical leadership to translate long-range healthcare goals into technical bets.

Represent engineering in board-level, partner, and regulatory conversations. Identify and drive the zero-to-one and one-to-n bets that expand what's possible deciding not just how to solve problems, but which problems are worth solving.

Own the company-wide safety and evaluation bar. Set the standards, gates, and measurement systems that every agent, every partner deployment, and every model change must clear.

Grow the technical bench: mentor Staff and Senior engineers, shape hiring and leveling, and multiply the impact of every team you touch.

Represent Hippocratic AI externally through publications, conference talks, partner engagements, and the broader healthcare AI community.
