Senior Backend AI Engineer / San Francisco
An innovative venture-backed organization in the health, wellness, and connected-device space is seeking a Full Stack AI Engineer to join their team. This full-time position focuses on building AI-powered tools, integrations, automation platforms, monitoring systems, and internal applications using Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, SQL, APIs, and modern AI technologies. You'll play a key role in creating solutions that help customers receive faster support, smarter issue resolution, and a world-class experience. The team is seeking a highly autonomous engineer who enjoys solving ambiguous problems, building innovative tools from scratch, and leveraging cutting-edge AI technologies to drive meaningful business outcomes. You'll have the opportunity to partner with software, hardware, operations, and machine learning teams while owning projects from concept through deployment. Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of Full Stack Engineering experience Strong Python development experience Strong TypeScript and/or JavaScript experience SQL and database development experience Experience building AI-powered applications, tools, or automation systems Experience developing APIs, integrations, and internal tools Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills Ability to work independently and solve complex technical challenges Experience leveraging AI coding assistants such as Claude, Devin, or similar tools Strong product mindset and user experience focus Excellent communication and collaboration skills Desired Skills & Experience
Experience building AI agents, chatbots, or conversational platforms Customer support or customer experience technology experience SRE, monitoring, observability, or incident response experience Experience building dashboards and analytics solutions Experience writing postmortems or COEs Experience working with connected devices or IoT products Experience collaborating with Machine Learning teams Startup or high-growth technology company experience Passion for health, fitness, wellness, or consumer technology Personal projects demonstrating technical curiosity What You Will Be Doing
