The Intelligent Foundations and Experiences (IFX) team is integral to realizing our AI vision at Capital One. We partner with teams across the organization to advance AI science and engineering, deploying proprietary solutions that deliver immense value to millions of customers. Through our AI models and platforms, we empower teams to responsibly enhance their products with transformative AI capabilities.
In this role, you will:
Collaborate with a cross-functional team of engineers, research scientists, technical program managers, and product managers to create AI-powered products that revolutionize how our associates work and improve customer interactions.
Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components, including foundation model training, large language model inference, similarity search, model governance, and observability.
Utilize a diverse stack of Open Source and SaaS AI technologies such as AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, and PyTorch.
Innovate in developing state-of-the-art LLM optimization techniques to enhance the performance - scalability, cost-efficiency, latency, and throughput - of large-scale production AI systems.
Contribute to the strategic vision and long-term roadmap of foundational AI systems at Capital One.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in AI and ML development, or a Master's degree with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
At least 3 years of programming experience with Python, Go, Scala, or Java.
Preferred Qualifications:
4+ years of experience in deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
Experience in developing and supporting AI services.
Expertise in AI and ML algorithms (e.g., LLM Inference, Similarity Search, VectorDBs) using languages including Python, C++, C#, Java, or Golang.
Experience with techniques for optimizing training and inference software to enhance hardware utilization.
This position is located at Capital One's office at 1595 Spring Hill Road, McLean, VA. Capital One offers competitive salaries within the range of $158,600 - $181,000 annually for this role, depending on your location and experience, along with performance-based incentives and comprehensive benefits.
