Overview
We are seeking a Senior AI Engineer to operate at the intersection of AI, product, and finance, owning how intelligent systems are integrated into real world financial workflows.
This is not a pure research or isolated engineering role. This is a business facing AI leader who can translate finance and accounting use cases into scalable AI solutions while working directly with product leaders and executive stakeholders.
You will drive strategy, prioritization, and execution across multiple AI initiatives, helping transform how finance organizations operate through automation, anomaly detection, and intelligent workflows.
This role requires both technical credibility and business fluency. You must be able to engage with engineers, data teams, and the C suite with equal confidence.
What You’ll Do
AI Strategy and Prioritization
Partner with CEOs, C suite leaders, and product teams to understand business goals and operational pain points
Identify and prioritize high impact AI initiatives across product lines and internal workflows
Balance internal platform improvements with client facing AI capabilities
Ensure alignment between managed services teams and core product and engineering teams
AI Solutioning and Delivery
Translate business needs into functional requirements, technical specifications, and data and testing plans
Design and deliver AI powered workflows leveraging LLMs, Python, SQL, and existing platform architecture
Build and improve anomaly detection systems to reduce manual review workload
Develop AI driven preset views for finance workflows
Support digital twin and forecasting models
Automate accounting and finance processes
Cross Functional Leadership
Work directly with product leaders and executive stakeholders in a highly visible role
Lead and participate in in person workshops with product teams as needed
Act as a bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders
Support user adoption across varying levels of AI readiness
Governance, Quality and Best Practices
Apply structured approaches to AI development including requirements, testing frameworks, and data integrity standards
Establish best practices for AI outputs, controls, and reusable components
Build and maintain skill libraries and standardized workflows
Rebuild processes from the ground up rather than relying on ad hoc prompt engineering
Talent and Vendor Collaboration
Partner with external recruiting and delivery teams to evaluate AI talent
Participate in technical screening and candidate assessment
Define standards for high quality AI engineering
Review code and validate technical output across teams
Must Have Experience and Skills
Finance and Domain Expertise
Strong exposure to finance and accounting environments such as controllership, FP and A, or finance managed services
Or consulting experience supporting finance organizations
Solid understanding of core accounting concepts and financial workflows
Experience applying AI or automation within finance is strongly preferred
Consulting and Product Mindset
Background in consulting or leading AI and automation initiatives within a finance organization
Comfortable running workshops and stakeholder sessions
Able to build and present roadmaps tied to clear business value
Comfortable operating in ambiguous and evolving environments
Technical Fluency
Strong understanding of LLMs, prompt engineering, and AI workflow design
Experience working with Python and SQL for data pipelines and automation
Familiarity with BI tools, databases, and system integrations
Experience with tools such as VS Code, Microsoft Copilot, and Excel based automation
Exposure to Elixir and Phoenix environments is a plus
Hands on coding experience required with an active GitHub or demonstrated coding history
Ability to communicate effectively with engineers and data scientists and participate in technical discussions
Ideal Background
Big 4 or large consulting experience focused on finance transformation, AI, automation, or data initiatives
Finance leader or product owner who has implemented AI or automation within a finance organization
Additional experience that is valuable
Background in technical accounting, tax, or transaction services
Experience with anomaly detection or predictive modeling
Familiarity with advanced machine learning concepts

We are seeking candidates based in a major U.S. metro, with a strong preference for those located in the Northeast, including New York City and Boston
Regular in person collaboration and workshops with product and leadership teams, primarily in the Northeast, will be an important part of this role
