About the Role
We are building a focused AI capability to drive productivity, automation, and smarter decision-making across the business and are seeking aSenior AI Engineer (1099 Consultant) to lead the design and delivery of high-impact solutions.
This is a hands-on role with full project ownership, where you will manage and execute AI initiatives from concept through production delivery. Potential for full-time conversion.
You will operate as both:
AI Engineer (designing and building solutions)
Project Owner (managing scope, timelines, and delivery)
You will work directly with leadership and business stakeholders to translate real-world needs into scalable AI solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Own AI projects end-to-end from scoping through delivery
Define project scope, timelines, and success metrics
Design and deploy solutions using leading AI LLMs (GPT, Claude, etc.) and Azure OpenAI, Microsoft Copilot, and AI agents
Manage multiple priorities and project timelines
Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements and align on approach
Translate business problems into technical solutions and delivery plans
Evaluate and recommend build vs. buy decisions
Deliver production-ready tools with documentation and handoff
Identify opportunities for automation and workflow improvement
Ensure solutions align with security, governance, and best practices
Basic Qualifications
3+ years of AI / ML engineering experience
Experience delivering AI solutions in enterprise environments
Proven ability to manage projects end-to-end
Experience working with leading LLMs such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Azure OpenAI, Copilot, or similar tools
Strong communication skills across technical and business teams
Ability xsgimln to be onsite periodically in Englewood Cliffs, NJ
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in consulting or contractor roles
Familiarity with Agile or sprint-based project delivery
Experience with RAG pipelines, AI agents, or automation workflows
Exposure to supply chain, operations, or food-related industries
Understanding of AI governance and risk considerations
Work Authorization
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Additional Requirements
Must be local to NYC / NJ / Tri-State area
Comfortable with hybrid work and onsite collaboration
Remote working/work at home options are available for this role.
