Join a leading technology company in the Financial Services industry located in Charlotte, NC. We are seeking a talented engineer to lead moderately complex initiatives and deliverables within technical domain environments.
You will contribute to large-scale planning of strategies, design, code, test, debug, and document projects and programs associated with the technology domain, including upgrades and deployments. You will tackle moderately complex technical challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of technologies and procedures. Resolve issues and lead a team to meet existing client needs or potential new client needs while leveraging a solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, or compliance requirements. Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and mid-level managers to resolve technical challenges and achieve goals. Lead projects and act as an escalation point, providing guidance and direction to less experienced staff.
Job Purpose
In this role, you will:
Participate in low to moderately complex initiatives and projects associated with the technology domain, including installation, upgrades, and deployment efforts.
Identify opportunities for service quality and availability improvements within the technology domain environment.
Design, code, test, debug, and document for low to moderately complex projects and programs associated with the technology domain, including upgrades and deployments.
Review and analyze technical assignments or challenges that are related to low to medium risk deliverables and that require research, evaluation, and selection of alternative technology domains.
Present recommendations for resolving issues or may escalate issues as needed to meet established service level agreements.
Exercise some independent judgment while also developing an understanding of the given technology domain in reference to security and compliance requirements.
Provide information to technology colleagues, internal partners, and stakeholders.
Design, code, test, debug, and document features and bug fixes using Java and Spring Boot.
Build and consume RESTful APIs supporting microservices and transaction workflows.
Learn and apply engineering standards, secure SDLC practices, and API design best practices.
Apply database skills (SQL/NoSQL) to write queries, validate data flows, troubleshoot data issues, and support application logic.
Use AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot to accelerate coding, generate test cases, and explore solution alternatives.
Build Agents using Gen AI and Agentic AI technologies.
Collaborate with other engineers and cross-functional partners in Home Lending Technology to support delivery goals and solution design.
Gain exposure to event-driven architecture concepts (Kafka, Pub Sub) and learn how messaging patterns support distributed systems.
Contribute to frontend or UI tasks using Angular or React when opportunities arise, helping develop or update internal user interfaces.
Participate in Agile ceremonies, including standups, retros, sprint planning, and code reviews, while incorporating feedback from mentors.
Learn cloud-ready development concepts for Java applications deployed on internal or cloud platforms.
Contribute to Generative AI features (LLM enabled workflows such as summarization, extraction, and assistant experiences) under guidance.
Required Skills
4 years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
4 years of Java development experience. - Mandatory
4 years of Java unit test case development experience.
4 years of JavaScript Frameworks experience such as with Angular or React JS.
Minimum 1 year of AI-based development experience using GitHub Copilot/Claude/Devin. - Mandatory
1 year Generative AI and Agentic AI experience (Google ADK, Lang Chain, MCP). - Mandatory
1 year of Prompt Engineering experience. - Mandatory
Desired Skills
1 year of cloud-native microservice application development experience.
1 year of experience with developing automated functional testing using BDD.
Experience developing AI prototypes or Production AI Systems.
Spring Boot application development experience.
Agile Development methodologies.
OCP experience.
Hibernate experience.

Experience with application non-functional requirements including Monitoring (APM tools), Logging (Splunk), and Distributed tracing. Exposure to observability or monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, Elastic, Grafana, AppDynamics).
Experience in build and deploy tools such as Jenkins. Awareness of CI/CD processes in a large application environment.
Ability to communicate clearly, collaborate within a team, and work in a fast-paced learning environment.
Knowledge and understanding of home mortgage origination process: applications, processing, and closing.
