About us Clinicians spend more time clicking through outdated software than caring for patients—often 4,000+ clicks per shift. We’re building modern tools that give that time back to patient care. If you want to build software that delights users and measurably improves patient outcomes, you’ll feel at home here.

The role We're hiring a Founding AI Engineer to design and ship the AI systems at the core of our product. You'll work in a fast, hands-on environment, iterating quickly with customers to solve real clinical workflow problems with LLM-powered features that actually work in production.

Key responsibilities Own AI features end to end: design, prototype, evaluate, deploy, and iterate. Partner with founders on product vision, AI strategy, and technical roadmap. Architect reliable, secure LLM systems — prompting, retrieval, agents, tool use, and orchestration. Build evaluation frameworks and feedback loops to measure model quality and catch regressions before customers do. Make pragmatic choices on models, frameworks, and tooling; balance capability, cost, and latency. Productionize AI responsibly — with appropriate guardrails, observability, and handling of sensitive clinical data. Contribute across the stack as needed to ship features end to end (we're early; everyone wears multiple hats). Establish AI engineering standards and help hire and mentor the early team. Ship quickly with customers; measure impact and refine. Hold a high quality bar while executing autonomously.

Our tech stack Turborepo (monorepo) Frontend Core app: Expo/React Native (Web, Android, iOS) Admin portal: Next.js Backend: NestJS Database: PostgreSQL Infrastructure: GCP AI: LangChain leveraging Anthropic, OpenAI, and Gemini models

Must haves Strong TypeScript expertise Hands-on experience shipping LLM/AI features to production 4+ years of full-time engineering experience

Preferred Full-stack chops across our core stack: React Native/Expo, Next.js, NestJS, and PostgreSQL DevOps and CI/CD proficiency — containers and cloud deployments (GCP a plus) Proven 0→1 builder who's taken products from concept to production Startup mindset: high ownership, autonomous, and a strong bias to action (prior startup experience preferred) Bay Area–based and able to work in-person 3 days/week Interest in healthcare and clinical workflows; mission-driven a plus

How we work Open to Feedback

— Questions and code suggestions are about the product, not the person. We assume positive intent and don't let frustration leak into how we treat each other. Constructive Disagreement

— Speak up if you see a better path. We weigh trade-offs together and pick the right solution for our current priorities. Shared Ownership

— We collectively own the codebase. Individuals may focus on certain areas, but nothing is siloed — anyone should be able to jump in. Autonomy with Judgment

— Not everything will be perfectly defined. Take initiative and move things forward, and know when to pull others in. Ownership of Output (AI Included)

— Whether you wrote it or an AI did, your commits are your responsibility. Review it, refine it, stand behind it. We ship intentional work, not blindly generated output.

Compensation Competitive salary and meaningful equity. Health, dental, and vision insurance. Unlimited time off, with a minimum of 3 weeks per year encouraged. $500 monthly wellness stipend. Immigration sponsorship, as long as your situation allows you to start within roughly the next month.
