Job Title: AI Engineer (Forward Deployed) — Full-Stack Location-Type: Remote — North America, with travel as needed Start Date Is: August 31, 2026 at the earliest Duration: 6 months, contract-to-hire Compensation Range: $95/hr – $115/hr W2
Job Description: Build and deploy a greenfield, full-stack agentic AI product that enables non-technical commercial users to incorporate LLM-powered workflows into their day-to-day work.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Own the end-to-end development of a production AI application across Python backend and React frontend.
Design and build agentic LLM workflows, RAG pipelines, tool integrations, and structured AI outputs.
Develop solutions within Palantir Foundry and AIP, including data, ontology, and AI-driven workflow integrations.
Translate ambiguous business requirements into scalable technical solutions and production-ready features.
Partner directly with business users to understand workflows, gather feedback, and continuously improve the product.
Design intuitive AI-powered user experiences for non-technical commercial and sales users.
Make independent architecture and technical decisions as the initial primary engineer on the product.
Instrument and evaluate deployed AI functionality based on adoption, efficiency, savings, and other measurable outcomes.
Maintain, iterate, and improve solutions after deployment rather than stopping at proof-of-concept stage.
Travel periodically to work directly with stakeholders and end users as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
Strong full-stack engineering experience with hands-on ownership of both backend and frontend development.
Advanced Python development experience.
React frontend development experience.
Production experience building agentic LLM applications.
Hands-on experience developing RAG-based systems and retrieval workflows.
Proven track record of deploying AI-powered products into production environments.
Ability to clearly articulate measurable business impact from previously deployed products, such as cost savings, efficiency gains, revenue impact, or user adoption.
Experience working directly with end users or business stakeholders in a forward-deployed or highly customer-facing engineering capacity.
Strong product and UX instincts, particularly when building applications for non-technical users.
Ability to independently own a 0-to-1 product build and make technical decisions with limited engineering support.
Comfortable operating in ambiguous environments and advising stakeholders on what should be built rather than simply acting as an order taker.
Nice-to-Haves:
Palantir Foundry and/or AIP experience.
Previous Palantir Forward Deployed Engineer experience or experience working within a Foundry-enabled organization.
Experience fine-tuning or implementing small language models.
Experience building AI evaluation and instrumentation frameworks using tools such as Braintrust or Statsig.
Formal design training, an MFA, or prior experience spanning both design and engineering disciplines.
Experience developing AI products for commercial, sales, or other non-technical enterprise user groups.
