Minimum Requirements:
1+ year of experience building and deploying components of enterprise search solutions.
1+ year of experience assisting with the configuration, implementation, rollout, and documentation of AI inventory and monitoring platforms, including Darwin or similar systems.
1+ year of experience supporting the implementation, testing, and deployment of AI agents or intelligent automation solutions aligned with business requirements.
1+ year of experience developing technical controls, documentation, standards, and processes supporting AI governance adoption.
1+ year of experience working with artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies in enterprise environments.
1+ year of experience creating technical documentation, user guides, operational procedures, and implementation documentation.
1+ year of experience supporting software development, application implementation, or enterprise technology deployments.
Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment with both onsite and remote participation.
Ability to pass all required criminal background and security screenings as required by Texas law.
Preferred Qualifications:
2+ years of experience developing, implementing, or supporting AI/ML solutions in a government, public sector, or highly regulated environment.
2+ years of experience supporting enterprise search technologies, knowledge management platforms, or information retrieval systems.
2+ years of experience implementing AI governance frameworks, risk management controls, or responsible AI practices.
2+ years of experience working with AI monitoring, inventory management, model governance, or compliance platforms.
2+ years of experience developing conversational AI, generative AI, intelligent assistants, or AI agent frameworks.
2+ years of experience collaborating with cross-functional business and technical teams to deliver AI initiatives.
2+ years of experience supporting solution testing, validation, deployment, and operationalization activities.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Engineering, or a related field.
Relevant AI, machine learning, cloud, or data engineering certifications.
Summary:
Seeking an Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Engineer to provide specialized technical support for enterprise AI initiatives within the Information Technology Division. This position will augment existing staff and assist with the implementation of strategic AI solutions, including enterprise search technologies, AI inventory and monitoring platforms, operational AI agents, and AI governance initiatives. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience supporting AI/ML implementations, documenting technical processes, and contributing to enterprise-wide AI adoption efforts. All deliverables and work products produced during the engagement become the property of the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Responsibilities:
Build, configure, deploy, and support components of DPS's enterprise search solution to improve information retrieval across agency systems.
Assist with the implementation, configuration, rollout, testing, and documentation of the Darwin AI inventory and monitoring platform.
Develop, test, deploy, and support AI agents that align with business unit objectives and operational requirements.
Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements and identify AI-driven solutions.
Develop technical controls, operational processes, standards, and documentation supporting AI governance initiatives.
Support AI governance program adoption through process implementation, compliance activities, and stakeholder engagement.
Assist with monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing AI/ML solutions in production and testing environments.
Create and maintain technical documentation, user guides, implementation procedures, and operational runbooks.
Participate in solution testing, validation, quality assurance, and deployment activities.
Ensure AI solutions comply with cybersecurity, privacy, and statewide technology policies.
Support enterprise AI initiatives designed to improve internal efficiencies and citizen-facing services.
Provide knowledge transfer and technical guidance to DPS personnel as needed.
