Balyasny Asset Management L.P. Overview

We are looking for an adaptable and highly motivated individual with a diverse technical skillset to work in a fast-paced

Applied AI Engineer

role within the Competitive Intelligence team. You will be involved in every stage of the analytics process, from research and idea generation to the development and deployment of systems that store, analyze, and extract value from data. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, your work will support strategic decision-making across various business areas and drive innovative solutions. Your projects will initially focus on building a data driven recruiting pipeline, and enabling BAM’s Business Development team to attract world class talent. We work on a modern and evolving cloud data platform built on Snowflake and other tools, with data sourced from systems such as Salesforce, Workday, and external data.

Responsibilities

Lead requirements gathering and solution design directly with end users.

Conduct comprehensive data analysis to support strategic and operational decision-making.

Design, develop, and implement data models and algorithms potentially incorporating cutting-edge techniques such as generative AI.

Develop and maintain scalable systems to manage, process, and analyze large datasets.

Build data pipelines to move data from Salesforce and other proprietary stores to warehouses such as Snowflake.

Build algorithms incorporating NLP and generative AI to improve data quality of the dataset.

Identify and work with external datasets that are already available (and assist in evaluating and onboarding new ones).

Research and implement creative solutions to problems and opportunities in data driven recruitment.

Experience Minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in AI/ML engineering, preferably within a tech company, with 4 to 10 years of experience working in the data space.

Qualifications

Bachelor or Master’s degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, Statistics or a related degree.

Technical Skills

Ability to provide clarity and insight through data visualization in BI tools (PowerBI, Tableau, Looker) or custom visuals (D3.js or R).

Strong proficiency in programming and analytical/statistical techniques, preferably with a Python focus.

Experience with data processing technologies and frameworks (e.g., Vector Databases, Apache Airflow, AWS, Spark, Databricks, DBT).

Expertise in advanced analytics, including Natural Language Processing and generative AI techniques, is desirable.

Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

Proven ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Strong analysis skills to extract requirements from end users rather than work from a fixed spec.

Focus on automation, repeatable solutions, and data quality.
