AI Engineer (Agent Developer)
EnDyna
Job Description
Job Description Salary:
At Endyna, Inc., we serve the public interest by providing technical, scientific, and management services to federal agencies. For our newly awarded EPA Contract A123, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated AI Engineer to join our team. You will play a central role in designing, developing, and deploying intelligent systems to assist in workflow automation, fraud detection, and resource optimization.
Position Summary
The AI Engineer (AIE) will lead the design and implementation of AI-powered agents and systems using state-of-the-art Large Language Models (LLMs) and machine learning techniques. This position will be instrumental in building tools to ingest multimodal data (text, images, structured data), perform reasoning, and generate multimodal outputs. The work will support grants management functions such as detecting waste, fraud, or abuse, and optimizing internal workflows.
The AIE will collaborate closely with domain experts, engineers, data scientists, and EPA stakeholders to deliver robust, scalable solutions that further the mission of the agency.
Key Responsibilities
Architect, develop, and maintain AI agents and applications using modern LLMs, reinforcement learning, or hybrid reasoning systems
Ingest, preprocess, and fuse multimodal data sources (e.g., text, tabular, image, sensor)
Develop supervised, unsupervised, and semi-supervised machine learning models tailored to domain tasks
Build and maintain APIs, microservices, and integration layers to support deployment of agent capabilities
Design reasoning and decision-making pipelines within agents (e.g. planning, constraint solving, sequential decision-making)
Generate multimodal outputs (e.g. reports, visualizations, alerts, summaries)
Develop and monitor metrics for agent performance, drift detection, and model validation
Collaborate with grants / compliance / audit teams to understand domain needs (waste, fraud, abuse)
Conduct code reviews, write documentation, and apply best practices in software engineering and ML operations
Stay current with advances in AI/ML, and recommend new tools and architectures for incorporation
Required Skills & Experience
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required; Masters degree preferred
Formal training in machine learning, artificial intelligence, or related field
Proven experience developing AI/ML systems, ideally in production
Hands-on experience with modern LLMs (e.g. OpenAI, GPT, LLaMA, etc.) or similar large-scale language models
Strong proficiency in Python, and familiarity with ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, etc.)
Experience developing APIs, microservices, and deployment tooling
Expertise in data ingestion, feature engineering, and multimodal fusion
Experience with both supervised and unsupervised learning methods
Familiarity with reasoning, planning, or hybrid AI systems
Experience in workflow optimization, anomaly detection, fraud/waste/abuse detection (especially in a government or financial domain) is a plus
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Security, Clearances & Additional Requirements
Must be a U.S. citizen or meet required eligibility for government contracts
Ability to obtain and maintain any required security clearance or background check
