The Client is seeking an AI Engineer to support the operation, modernization, and enhancement of AI-enabled applications for the Department of Banking and other state agencies. The role involves developing and maintaining AI-powered applications using Python, modern web frameworks, Microsoft Azure, and large language models while working with confidential and regulated financial data.
Key responsibilities include:
Develop, maintain, and enhance AI-enabled applications and supporting services.
Build and maintain web applications using Python and modern frameworks such as FastAPI.
Configure, deploy, monitor, and maintain applications in Microsoft Azure.
Develop and maintain APIs, application logic, and cloud-based services.
Work with large language models (LLMs) including OpenAI GPT, Google Gemini, and Anthropic Claude.
Compare, evaluate, and select AI models using methods such as A/B testing.
Use Git-based source control and pull-request workflows.
Debug, test, and deploy production-ready code.
Document application architecture, workflows, and technical processes.
Collaborate with the Connecticut AI Lab and project stakeholders.
Follow secure development practices while handling confidential and regulated data.
Required skills include:
3+ years of Python development in web application environments.
2+ years of experience building applications using Large Language Models (OpenAI GPT, Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, etc.).
2+ years of experience comparing and selecting AI models.
Experience developing REST APIs using FastAPI or similar frameworks.
Strong understanding of AI-assisted software development workflows.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Desired skills include:
Experience deploying applications in cloud environments.
Microsoft Azure experience including App Service, Storage, Key Vault, and related services.
Experience with Git and pull-request-based development.
Previous experience supporting AI initiatives for a State Government agency.
Knowledge of secure software development and cloud-based application deployment.
