Base Pay Range
$91,341 – $163,557 per year.
Responsibilities
As a Machine Learning Scientist, you’ll work on real‑world problems that shape the future of AI at Best Buy. You’ll collaborate across teams, dive deep into data, and bring innovative ideas to life. This hybrid role combines on‑site work in Richfield, Minnesota, with virtual days from home or other non‑Best Buy locations.
Design and develop large‑scale AI solutions leveraging state‑of‑the‑art techniques.
Utilize deep knowledge of machine learning and software engineering to contribute to the roadmap of Best Buy’s core AI capabilities.
Build products that influence millions of people and deliver tens of millions of dollars in impact to Best Buy’s bottom line.
Optimize inference latency to enable real‑time ML serving for millions of customers daily.
Work with ML Science and Data Engineering teams to design training/serving data schemas for input features and Request/Response data contracts during inference.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or related field (or equivalent experience).
3+ years of experience in ML/AI, data engineering, or software development.
3+ years of experience building, deploying, and serving real‑time ML/AI models with ultra‑low latency and high throughput in resilient, scalable, cloud‑native services.
2+ years of experience building data engineering pipelines, ML/AI driven products or other related functions (e.g., software engineering, data science).
2+ years of Python and SQL skills.
2+ years of experience in software design, test‑driven development, and implementation using a general‑purpose programming language (e.g., Python, Scala, Rust, C++).
Solid understanding of supervised/unsupervised learning, deep learning, and Generative AI.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a quantitative field.
Experience with GCP, AWS, or multi‑cloud setups.
Familiarity with TensorFlow, PyTorch, MLFlow, Vertex AI, or similar tools.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and GitHub Actions.
Open source contributions or a strong GitHub portfolio.
